I've been reading your blog since the start and not only do I learn some great vocabulary words (which is a great rarity on the Blog-a-sphere) but these are thoroughly enjoyable to read! Your exuberance on the topic really comes through! Please keep producing more and more!!

Thank you for this wonderful resource - you've provided amazing details that bring back bittersweet memories of that time.

I agree with the comment made by Emmylou Harris - Americans felt that the world had become sad, dark and depressed following JFK's shocking murder in late 1963 and we were grateful just a few weeks later when the Beatles brought laughter, light and hope at the start of 1964. Beginning in January of that year the national news each night talked about the Beatles coming to America and day by day this created incredible excitement before they even arrived in the US. It was a much needed break from the national sadness and helped refocus and lighten the mood of the country.

Great work - love the blog and look forward to more. :)

Appreciate the comment TJ! Always love hearing from people who were actually there in real time. You mention something which is sometimes forgotten: that while The Ed Sullivan Show was the Big Bang, the fuse which lit the bomb had been burning for weeks and restoring light to the post-assassination darkness. There's a reason 40% of the country tuned in that night!
